A Bit Of Family History For All You Young'ns

This is quite possibly the only photo of Albert and Fanny Taylor and their 11 children.
They were married 14/1/1910 and began their family in the Tibooburra/Milparinka region, before moving into Wilcannia the 'Queen City of the West'.
They then bought Alma Park Station, and in 1922 the whole family walked all their belonging the 53 miles out of town and lived in tents until they built their house.
Life would have been very tough as another 3 children were born after they arrived there.
They didn'nt have any vehicles, just horses and buggies. Even little things that we take for granted, like drinking and washing water. There would have been very little until they started collecting rain water. There was a well on top of the hill, but it was very deep and would have taken a mighty long and strong rope to haul up water for washing and bathing!

Uncle Fred used to tell us that he pushed Aunty Alma most of the way out to Alma Park in her pram. In those days the prams were beautifully sprung with really large wheels. A lot easier to push but the roads were dirt so that would have been pretty hard going for a 5 year old.

That is all for today children, next week we will look at where Albert and Fanny came from.

I meant to say....
If you create a folder called Taylor Family in your pictures and save all of these photos then many of us then would have copies of these originals.
Just a thought.

Mum, this is a terrific post. I can't believe they walked that far with such small babies. My god.

I love the pictures too.

Thank you.

P.S. Aunty Helen should receive an email soon.
